솔로몬의 첫째 잠언집

1 솔로몬의 잠언. 지혜로운 아들은 아버지를 기쁘게 하고 우둔한 아들은 어머니의 근심거리가 된다.

1 The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son gives his father joy, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

2 불의하게 모은 보화는 소용이 없지만 정의는 사람을 죽음에서 구해 준다.

2 Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but justice saves from death.

3 주님께서는 의인의 갈망은 채워 주시고 악인의 욕망은 물리치신다.

3 The LORD does not let the just go hungry, but the craving of the wicked he thwarts.

4 게으른 손바닥은 가난을 지어 내고 부지런한 이의 손은 부를 가져온다.

4 The slack hand impoverishes, but the busy hand brings riches.

5 여름에 모아 들이는 이는 사려 깊은 아들이고 수확 철에 잠만 자는 자는 수치스러운 아들이다.

5 A son who gathers in summer is a credit; a son who slumbers during harvest, a disgrace.

6 의인의 머리에는 복이 내리지만 악인의 입은 폭력을 감추고 있다.

6 Blessings are for the head of the just; but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

7 의인은 칭송을 받으며 기억되지만 악인의 이름은 썩어 버린다.

7 The memory of the just serves as blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.

8 마음이 지혜로운 이는 계명을 받아들이지만 미련한 말을 하는 자는 멸망에 이른다.

8 A wise heart accepts commands, but a babbling fool will be overthrown.

9 흠 없이 걷는 이는 안전하게 걸어가지만 비뚤어진 길을 가는 자는 드러나기 마련이다.

9 Whoever walks honestly walks securely, but one whose ways are crooked will fare badly.

10 눈을 찡긋대는 자는 고통을 가져오고 미련한 말을 하는 자는 멸망에 이른다.

10 One who winks at a fault causes trouble, but one who frankly reproves promotes peace.

11 의인의 입은 생명의 샘이지만 악인의 입은 폭력을 감추고 있다.

11 The mouth of the just is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

12 미움은 싸움을 일으키지만 사랑은 모든 허물을 덮어 준다.

12 Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.

13 슬기로운 이의 입술에는 지혜가 어리지만 지각없는 자의 등에는 몽둥이가 어울린다.

13 On the lips of the intelligent is found wisdom, but a rod for the back of one without sense.

14 지혜로운 이들은 지식을 간직하지만 미련한 자의 입은 몰락을 불러들인다.

14 The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool is imminent ruin.

15 부유한 자의 재산은 그에게 견고한 성읍이 되고 빈곤한 자의 가난은 그에게 몰락을 가져온다.

15 The wealth of the rich is their strong city; the ruin of the poor is their poverty.

16 의인의 소득은 생명에 이르고 악인의 소출은 죄악에 이른다.

16 The labor of the just leads to life, the gains of the wicked, to futility.

17 교훈을 지키는 이는 생명에 이르는 길을 가지만 훈계를 저버리는 자는 남을 방황하게 한다.

17 Whoever follows instruction is in the path to life, but whoever disregards reproof goes astray.

18 미움을 감추는 자는 거짓된 입술을 가진 자고 험담을 내뱉는 자는 우둔한 자다.

18 Whoever conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.

19 말이 많은 데에는 허물이 있기 마련 입술을 조심하는 이는 사려 깊은 사람이다.

19 Where words are many, sin is not wanting; but those who restrain their lips do well.

20 의인의 혀는 순수한 은과 같지만 악인의 마음은 별 가치가 없다.

20 Choice silver is the tongue of the just; the heart of the wicked is of little worth.

21 의인의 입술은 많은 이를 먹여 살리지만 미련한 자들은 지각이 없어 죽어 간다.

21 The lips of the just nourish many, but fools die for want of sense.

22 주님의 복은 부를 가져오지만 사람의 노고는 보탬이 되지 않는다.

22 It is the LORD’s blessing that brings wealth, and no effort can substitute for it.

23 우둔한 자는 부정한 짓을 즐기고 슬기로운 이는 지혜를 즐긴다.

23 Crime is the entertainment of the fool; but wisdom is for the person of understanding.

24 악인에게는 무서워하는 일이 닥치고 의인에게는 바라는 일이 이루어진다.

24 What the wicked fear will befall them, but the desire of the just will be granted.

25 폭풍이 지나가면 악인은 없어져도 의인은 영원한 토대 위에 서 있다.

25 When the tempest passes, the wicked are no more; but the just are established forever.

26 게으름뱅이는 심부름시키는 사람에게 이에 식초요 눈에 연기와 같다.

26 As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, are sluggards to those who send them.

27 주님을 경외함은 살날을 더해 주지만 악인의 수명은 짧아진다.

27 Fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.

28 의인들의 희망은 기쁨을 가져오지만 악인의 기대는 무너지고 만다.

28 The hope of the just brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked perishes.

29 주님의 길은 흠 없는 이에게는 요새가 되지만 나쁜 짓 하는 자에게는 몰락이 된다.

29 The LORD is a stronghold to those who walk honestly, downfall for evildoers.

30 의인은 영원히 흔들리지 않지만 악인은 이 땅에서 살지 못한다.

30 The just will never be disturbed, but the wicked will not abide in the land.

31 의인의 입은 지혜를 내놓지만 사악한 혀는 잘려 나간다.

31 The mouth of the just yields wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.

32 의인의 입술은 남이 찬성할 말을 알지만 악인의 입은 사악함을 알 뿐이다.

32 The lips of the just know favor, but the mouth of the wicked, perversion.

1. '주님께서는 의인의 갈망은 채워 주시고 악인의 욕망은 물리치신다. (잠언 10장 3절)' 의인의 갈망을 채워주시며 악인의 욕망을 물리치는 주님 감사합니다.
2. '게으른 손바닥은 가난을 지어내고 부지런한 이의 손은 부를 가져온다. (잠언 10장 4절)' 나태하게 지내지 않고 부지런하게 소중한 삶을 살고 싶습니다.
